Our Story

Strength & Performance was built on a simple belief: that structured, coach-led training gets results. We set up in Reddish because Stockport deserved a proper gym — one where every member has a plan, every coach knows your name, and every session has a purpose.

We're just two minutes from Portwood roundabout and five minutes from The Heatons, which means we're easy to reach from across Stockport and the surrounding areas. But more than our location, it's our approach that keeps people coming back.

The S&P Difference

There are no drop-in, do-whatever-you-fancy sessions here. At S&P, you follow a structured programme, coached by professionals who know their stuff. Our Fit programme builds cardiovascular capacity and movement quality. Our Strong programme adds load and builds real, measurable strength through progressive phases. Members can also take part in optional community events — including the S&P Combine and Big Lifts days — where progress is tested and celebrated together.

  • Do I need experience to join S&P?

    Not at all. S&P welcomes members of all fitness levels and backgrounds. Our Fit programme is specifically designed as an entry point for those new to structured training, and our All Stars programme is tailored for members aged 55 and over. Whatever your starting point, we'll find the right programme for you.


  • How do I become a member?

    We invite all new members to come into the gym and have a chat with Head Coach Karl. You'll complete a Par-Q health questionnaire, talk through your goals, and find out which programme is the best fit. If you're keen to join Strong straight away, Karl may recommend a movement assessment first.


  • What makes S&P different from a commercial gym?

    At S&P, every session is coach-led and purposefully programmed. There are no unsupervised floor sessions — just structured classes with expert coaching, specialist equipment, and a community that genuinely supports each other. It's a completely different experience to training alone.


  • What equipment do you have?

    S&P is stocked with specialist equipment you won't find in most commercial gyms. The kit we use is specifically chosen to support the movements in our Fit and Strong programmes and deliver results that general gym equipment simply can't match.


  • Where are you based?

    S&P Gym is located in Reddish, Stockport — two minutes from Portwood roundabout and five minutes from The Heatons. We serve members from across the Stockport area including Reddish, The Heatons, Portwood, and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
